Other projects on transport and climate change:
GHG-TransPoRD - The main objective of GHG-TransPoRD project is to support the EU in defining a feasible policy strategy for GHG reductions of transport that fits and contributes to the overall GHG reduction targets of the EU. Such a policy strategy would propose GHG reduction targets for transport as a whole as well as for each transport mode.
REACT - Supporting research on climate-friendly transport. The REACT vision is to raise awareness and, in parallel, to actively contribute to the shaping of a consensus among EC, Member States and Associated States RTD funding agencies. This could result in a unified and more effective means of addressing climate friendly transport challenges by fully exploiting the resources available.
TOSCA - Technology Options and Strategies toward Climate-friendly trAnsport. The EU has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% based on the 1990 level by 2020 and further reductions are expected beyond that timeframe. However, realising this and subsequent targets may become increasingly challenging, given the past growth and future projections of transportation greenhouse gas emissions. TOSCA, an 18-month EU FP7-funded project, aims to provide a better strategic perspective on the potential contributions to reductions in transportation greenhouse gas emissions from new transportation technologies and fuels.
DEMOCRITOS - The project introduces the 'Mobility Credits Model' as a transport specific platform that will enable travellers, mobility providers, technology providers and transport planners to understand the implications of climate policy and increasing prices for greenhouse gas emissions and to identify new opportunities in urban mobility first and in extra-urban mobility later.
WEATHER. The need for adaptation is recognised, but the magnitudes and consequences of these changes in the weather system are not yet well understood. Therefore, the WEATHER project aims at analysing the economic costs of climate change on transport systems in Europe and explores ways for reducing them in the context of sustainable policy design.
Ticket to Kyoto: Five European public transport companies have joined in a four-year project (2010 - 2014) to reduce CO2 emissions in public transport through more environmentally friendly behaviour and changes in infrastructure. Their goal: introducing the principle of low CO2 emissions as the new standard for public transport providers.
ClimactRegions: This project looks at how European regions can achieve their GHG reductions, aiming to strengthen regional capacity to develop and implement policies to reduce GHG emissions. The ClimactRegions project will develop assessment methodologies and will produce guides in three areas: GHG observatory, regional policies and governance.

Bridging the Gap: Pathways for Transport in the Post 2012 process... To encourage international action and to slow down the growth of transport related CO2 emissions, GTZ, Veolia Transport, UITP and TRL have decided to join forces to encourage the recognition that transport can and should play in mitigating GHG emissions. Together they hope to achieve a Post 2012 Agreement that will be fully applicable to the sustainable land transport sector.
The CIVITAS Initiative helps cities to achieve a more sustainable, clean and energy efficient urban transport system by implementing and evaluating an ambitious, integrated set of technology and policy based measures.
